IPTV Login Details Explained: Server URL, Username, Password and What to Do If You Lose Them

IPTV login details are the credentials your provider issues when you buy or trial a plan: usually a server URL, a username and a password for Xtream Codes apps, or a single M3U link that contains the same three pieces. MAG-style boxes use a portal URL and your device's MAC address instead. They come from the provider, never from the app. If you lose them, ask the provider to resend them; never use 'free' login lists, which are shared, short-lived and often stolen accounts.

Your IPTV login details are the key to the whole service, yet most people only look at them once, on setup day. This guide, part of our IPTV troubleshooting hub, explains the three formats they come in, how to read them, the typing mistakes that make a correct login fail, and what to do when they go missing.

The three kinds of IPTV login

Providers issue one account in up to three formats: an Xtream Codes login (server URL, username and password), an M3U link that bundles those same details into one address, or a portal URL tied to a device's MAC address. They are wrappers around the same account, not three different services.

FormatWhat you receiveUsed byWorth knowing
Xtream Codes loginServer URL, username, passwordIPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate, XCIPTV, IBO PlayerTyped into three separate fields
M3U linkOne long web addressAlmost any player, including VLCContains the same server, username and password
Portal URL (MAG-style)Portal address plus the device's MAC addressMAG boxes and apps that imitate themNo password: the provider approves the device itself

The Xtream Codes format is the one most apps ask for first, because it lets the player request the channel list, the TV guide and account information separately. An M3U link is a single file of channels, which is why it works almost everywhere but shows less. A portal login is different again: the provider registers your box's MAC address, and the box identifies itself, so there is no password to type.

Where your login details come from

Your login details always come from your IPTV provider, never from the app. That is why an app such as IPTV Smarters Pro asks for a username and password you never created: the app is an empty player, and the provider made the account for you when you bought or trialled a plan.

TVNado sends the server URL, username and password on WhatsApp, usually within minutes of a purchase or a trial request. The same details work in any compatible player, so if you change apps you reuse them rather than signing up again. Our Xtream Codes setup guide shows which field each detail goes into.

Keep that first message somewhere you can find it again: pin the chat, or copy the three details into a password manager. You will need them every time you add a device, reinstall an app or clear an app's data, and having them to hand turns a ten-minute search into a ten-second paste.

Your password is inside your M3U link

An Xtream Codes M3U link is built from the server address plus your username and password, written in plain text inside the link. Open the link as text and you will usually see the server address at the start and your username and password further along.

That has two practical consequences:

  • Going back: if you only kept the M3U link, the three Xtream Codes details are already in it.
  • Sharing: anyone who has the M3U link has your username and password, so treat it like a password, not like a web page.

Going the other way, from three details to a working M3U link, depends on the exact format your provider uses, so ask the provider for the link rather than building one by hand. A link typed with one character out of place fails without telling you why.

Typing them in without the classic mistakes

A correct login usually fails for one of six small reasons, and each one produces a recognisable error. Match what you see to the row below before you assume the account is broken:

MistakeWhat the app showsFix
Wrong capital letter in the username or passwordInvalid login or 'failed to authorize'Copy and paste from the original message
A space at the end after copy and pasteInvalid login, even though it looks rightDelete the last character and retype it
Letter O typed for zero, or lower-case l for capital IInvalid loginPaste instead of typing
Part of the server URL left off, such as the bit after a colonCannot connect, or a timeoutEnter the URL exactly as sent
The full M3U link pasted into the server URL fieldCannot connectUse the M3U option in the app, or the three details
An old server URL from a previous messageCannot connect, while the plan is activeAsk the provider for the current URL

If every detail is right and the app still refuses, the plan itself may have ended; our guide on how to check your IPTV expiry date covers that case, and the "failed to authorize" fix guide goes through server and VPN causes.

Lost or forgot your login details?

Find the message your provider originally sent, and if it is gone, ask the provider to resend the details. There is no "forgot password" button, because the app never had your account.

  1. Scroll back to the provider's first message. TVNado logins arrive on WhatsApp.
  2. Search your chats and email for "username" or for part of the server address.
  3. Check another device that is still logged in: some players show the username and server in their settings.
  4. Still nothing? Ask TVNado support on WhatsApp to resend your login; support will tell you what it needs to find your account.

According to the TVNado FAQ, you keep the same login credentials after renewal, so details from an older message usually still work. For TVNado-specific steps, see the TVNado login page.

Why 'free IPTV username and password' lists fail

Free login lists are not safe to use: every login on them is either someone's paid account shared without permission or bait. The provider sees one account streaming from dozens of places and shuts it down, usually within days.

Using an account you did not get from the provider breaks that provider's terms, and the sites hosting these lists are a common place to pick up fake app downloads. If the goal is to test a service before paying, a real trial does that properly: TVNado's free 24-hour IPTV trial needs no credit card and comes with your own login.

Using the same login on another device

Yes, you enter the same login details on each device, but each simultaneous stream uses one connection. TVNado plans are sold for 1 to 4 devices, so a one-device plan plays on one screen at a time even if you install the app on three.

If two people watch at once, the second screen usually stops or shows a connection-limit error. Our guide to multi-connection IPTV plans explains the options, and current prices for each device count are on the TVNado pricing page.

Quick answers

Where do I find my IPTV username and password?

In the message your provider sent when you bought or trialled the plan. For TVNado that is your WhatsApp chat with support.

Are free IPTV logins legal?

A login taken from a public list belongs to someone else and is used without the provider's permission, which breaks its terms. Expect it to stop within days.

What is the server URL for IPTV?

It is the web address of your provider's server, sent with your username and password. Each provider has its own.

Can I convert my IPTV login to an M3U link?

Ask your provider for the link. The format varies, and a hand-built link with one wrong character simply fails.
